Draping Draupadi

Draping Draupadi is a year-long exploration of liminality and nostalgia in identity through the lens of cultural fashion. The saree- a centuries-old everyday garment, becomes a site of memory, resistance and reclamation for South Asian women.

Through poetic AR illustrations, interactive gestural media, an experimental documentary film and a performative interaction of draping a saree ,the project seeks to de-fossilize the fragmentation of identity in post-colonial Indian women inviting physical presence and participation to collapse the boundary between spectator and artwork.
