Kēlum - கேளும்

Kēlum (கேளும்) explores how Tamil language and literature have preserved the cultural memory of music that disappeared over 5000 years ago. In collaboration with Tharun Sekar, founder of Uru Custom Instruments, she traces the story of the Yaazh, that had long been extinct, whose sounds have now been revived and rebirthed by Team Uru.  What does it mean to pull it out of the static stillness of a museum? The Yaazh once lived in the brain and tongue of its people. To resurrect it is to feel in fragments, to piece together resonance through absence, to grieve something never fully known, and to now celebrate its rebirth.
