CLOSER, YET SO FAR

No man is an island, yet in today’s hyper-connected world, we often drift apart under the illusion of closeness. “We are connected, but alone,” wrote Sherry Turkle, capturing the paradox of digital intimacy. This project explores the emotional and psychological impact of online social networking. Set in a multi-sensory digital space, it invites reflection on the fragility of digital bonds, the desire for connection, and the emptiness that can follow screen-based interactions. Using the island as a metaphor, it visualises how we each inhabit private emotional territories—separated not by distance, but by the limits of online connection.
