Drifting Within Boundaries: Women Who Never Left Yet Lost

Drifting Within Boundaries is an immersive triptych film exploring the lives of “Ah-Le” women in coastal China who experienced trafficking and child marriage. Though physically rooted, they face emotional displacement and identity fragmentation. The work blends documentary footage, symbolic landscapes, and psychological storytelling to reflect silence, endurance, and structural trauma. Drawing on local elements and feminist perspectives, the project also explores co-creating emotional language—developing visual forms to express feelings that have long remained unspoken.

Jing Wang

Jing is a visual storyteller whose work explores emotional geography, gendered displacement, and mental health. She focuses on hidden narratives—particularly the emotional and identity struggles of trafficked and child-married women in rural China. Using immersive film, symbolic landscapes, and participatory methods, she transforms invisible emotions into poetic, sensory experiences. Deeply influenced by feminist theory and narrative psychology, Jing creates gentle yet powerful spaces where silence speaks, pain is made visible, and empathy becomes a form of resistance.
