All the Beautiful People are Gone

This multi screen-based work is a revisiting of collective memory, reimagining Zambian music history through the practice and performance of intangible cultural heritage. This project is based on the rise and fall of Zamrock – a Zambian rock and roll movement that emerged during the 1970s, to decline 20 years later in the 1990s. Misha Maseka teamed up with various partners from Zambia (most notably the Zambia Belonging Archive, Ku-Atenga Media, and Mag44) and the diaspora to explore the possibility of archiving ancestral feelings, reliving the Zamrock experience, and holding onto an era.
