This project starts with a decentralised mycelium network to question human dominance in design and challenge the fairness of human-centric problem-solving. Through an immersive digital island, it encourages a rethinking of modern design systems via non-linear spatial narratives.
Unlike conventional digital narratives focused on efficiency and human needs, this project blurs roles and boundaries, offering a visual and sensory experience of entanglement and uncertainty. Using VR imagery and sound as storytelling tools, it proposes a framework for non-human perception, prompting designers to see themselves as translators, not controllers.

Ziqiao Yi
Here is Ziqiao Yi, a 3D artist from China, whose passion for digital media stems from the endless possibilities technology offers for storytelling. Digital media is both a tool and the cradle of contemporary art. In the current wave of artificial intelligence, I use models, dynamic imagery, and vibrant colours to make a compelling statement about how humanity will survive in the future. My stories focus on logic and rationality, but my visual expressions are more emotional and nuanced. I am not yet a fully mature ‘technical artist,’ but I am striving to find a balance between distinctive artistic expression and clear storytelling.
