This project frames the UFO as a metaphor—a modern technological retelling of ancient supernatural phenomena—embodying the intersection of the subconscious, belief systems, and invisible mechanisms of control. It reveals how a symbolic “simulation of consciousness” quietly takes shape in the post-truth era, where collective belief is shaped by culture, media, and technology, and reality becomes a designed illusion.
Through a subjective perspective, the viewer enters a seemingly gamified control system, traversing symbolic spaces to experience how belief is constructed and perception manipulated. The work also prompts reflection: when confronted with a mystery, what we uncover is never the truth of the phenomenon—but the truth of ourselves.
Yiyang Tao
I am a Shanghai-based multimedia visual artist exploring the intricate relationship between humans, technology, nature, and the universe, using perceptual experience as a vehicle for critical reflection. By combining elements of soundscape with artistic expression, I create poetic virtual environments that guide audiences through immersive, cybernetic journeys. Drawing inspiration from science fiction literature, films, and video games, I reimagine transmedia storytelling through digital experimental films, interactive games, and video installations. I aim to evoke sensory landscapes shaped by a unique audiovisual rhythm, balancing emotional resonance with conceptual depth.
